Nominated for a Liebster Award!

Talk about being honored!  Danielle at Live. Love. Math. nominated my blog for the Liebster Award!  How cool is that?  And, yes, I accept the nomination, with pleasure…and am now sending it on to several other deserving blogs!

So here is how it works:
To accept the nomination I must:
1. Link back to the blog that nominated me
2. Nominate 5-11 bloggers with fewer than 200 followers
3. Answer the questions posted for you by your nominator
4. Share 11 random facts about yourself
5. Create 11 questions for your nominees
6. Contact your nominees and let them know you nominated them

I nominated:
Mrs. D from Mrs. D’s Diamonds
K. Almaraz from Our Future is Bright
Stacy from Teacher’s Take-Out

Questions from Danielle:
1. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?  I have a deep love of the ocean.  So, I would say my dream location would be living right on the coast–the Atlantic Ocean is my favorite.
2. What is your favorite grade/subject to teach?  I taught first grade for years, then ten years ago moved to fifth grade.  It has been a move I’ve never regretted.  I love the age!  My favorite subject by far is reading.
3. What types of books do you like to read in your spare (ha!) time?  I love Nicholas Sparks (Who doesn’t, right?).  I also love the Dorothea Benton Frank.  All her books take place along the coast of South Carolina…hmmm…do we see a pattern here?
4. What is your favorite thing to shop for?  Honestly, I am not much of a shopper.  Odd, I know.  My daughter thinks I am some kind of a freak, lol!  I do, however, like spending time in book stores…I love the smell of new books!  Maybe I am a freak 🙂
5. What is your favorite type of shoe to teach in?  I love anything made by Clarks.
6. What was your most memorable teaching moment? Often, you don’t realize that there even was a moment until a young adult comes to visit you and recalls an event that occurred in the classroom years earlier.  Those are some of the best moments…having a former student tell you how you impacted their life.
7. What was the best vacation you ever went on?  I would have to say my most favorite of vacations was a trip to the Riviera Maya in Mexico.  I week gazing at the ocean was simply amazing…and the foo-foo drinks were pretty nice too!
8. What is your favorite meal? I love stir fry…the spicier the better!
9. If you won a million dollars to spend on anything, what would you buy?  Wow, wouldn’t that be nice?!?  Probably a 2nd home on the coast.
10. What was the last movie you saw? Did you like it?  Man of Steel.  It was okay.  Honestly, I am not much for movies…I have a hard time sitting still that long.  Drives the hubby crazy 🙂
11. What is your favorite thing about the school at which you currently teach?  We are a close knit staff.  We don’t take ourselves too seriously, support each other and consider ourselves one big family.

Random Facts about me:

1.  I come from a teaching family.  My dad, 3 uncles, 2 aunts and 1 cousin.
2. I met my husband at the county fair.
3. I live and teach in the town I grew up in.
4. I have two beautiful children.  One a college sophomore, the other a high school senior.
5. I am not sure what hubby and I will do with ourselves once the ‘nest is empty’.
6. I exercise every morning before work.  The gym opens at 5 a.m.–and I am standing in line out front when they open those doors.
7. I play golf…badly…
8. I love wine 🙂  It’s a Friday after work obsession…and need!
9. Last summer, I spent a good hour in a gondola suspended above the mountains in Aspen CO.  The wind was howling at about 60 mph…the gondola was having mechnical issues…I nearly had, no had, a nervous breakdown.
10. I have a mini Australian Shepherd that is my most loyal fan.
11.  I LOVE to travel!
